Dwayne Johnson plays Will Sawyer, a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran who now works as a security consultant. Will lost one of his legs during a hostage mission, and he now uses a prosthetic limb. Despite the trauma and physical challenges, he has moved on and built a peaceful life with his wife, Sarah (played by Neve Campbell), and their two children. They are currently residing in Hong Kong, where Will has been hired to assess the security of the world’s tallest and supposedly safest skyscraper, called The Pearl.
The Pearl, a massive, state-of-the-art building that stands at 3,500 feet, is owned by Zhao Long Ji (played by Chin Han). The building features advanced technology, including a unique interior structure and a massive, spherical observation deck at the top. It is marketed as one of the most secure buildings in the world. Will is tasked with conducting a security assessment, but during the visit, a group of terrorists led by Kores Botha (played by Roland MΓΈller) infiltrates the building and sets it on fire. Their aim is to retrieve a secret that Zhao is hiding within the skyscraper.
To make matters worse, Will is framed for causing the fire, which leads to him being pursued by both the authorities and the terrorists. While on the run, Will learns that his family is trapped in the burning building, which has now been evacuated. With no one to trust, Will must find a way into the towering inferno, clear his name, and save his familyβ€”all while dealing with terrorists who will stop at nothing to get what they want.
The trailer for “Skyscraper” opens with impressive shots of The Pearl, highlighting its futuristic design and colossal height. Will Sawyer is introduced as a man who has experienced loss but is now trying to live a simple life with his family. Dwayne Johnson brings a sense of vulnerability to the character, as the scenes depict his struggle to adapt after his injury, but also his resilience.
