The Predator (2018)
“The Predator” (2018) is a science fiction action film directed by Shane Black, who co-wrote the screenplay with Fred Dekker. It is the fourth installment in the Predator franchise and serves as both a sequel and a reboot to the original series.
The film follows Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook), a former Army Ranger who encounters a Predator while on a mission. After the encounter, he sends pieces of the alien technology to his family for safekeeping.
When the Predator’s presence is discovered by the government, McKenna and his team, including a group of misfit soldiers known as the “Loonies,” are drawn into a new conflict with the alien hunters. They soon realize that the Predators are evolving and have come to Earth with a more advanced and dangerous breed.
As the story unfolds, the team must confront the enhanced Predators, uncover the truth behind their arrival, and protect McKenna’s son, who has unknowingly become a key to the aliens’ plans.
The Predator is known for its blend of sci-fi, action, and dark humor, typical of Shane Black’s style. The film features intense action sequences, high-tech weaponry, and a mix of suspense and humor. While it received mixed to positive reviews from critics—some praising its entertaining moments and nostalgic nods to the franchise’s roots, while others criticized its uneven tone and plot—the film remains a fun addition to the Predator series for fans of action and sci-fi cinema.
