Shot Caller (2017)
Shot Caller (2017) is a gritty crime thriller directed by Ric Roman Waugh. The film follows Jacob Harlon (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), a successful businessman who is sent to prison after a tragic car accident. Once inside, Jacob is forced to adapt to the brutal prison environment, where he transforms into a hardened gang member to survive. Known as “Money” in the criminal underworld, Jacob rises through the ranks of a violent prison gang.
Upon his release, Jacob faces a dangerous ultimatum from his gang: carry out a high-stakes crime or risk endangering his family. The film explores themes of survival, loyalty, and the consequences of one’s choices, as Jacob struggles with his past life and his new, darker identity.
