101 Dalmatians (1996)
In 1996, Disney reimagined one of its classic animated tales into a live-action family film, 101 Dalmatians. Directed by Stephen Herek, this charming movie brought to life the beloved story of 101 Dalmatians, originally based on the novel by Dodie Smith and Disney’s 1961 animated film of the same name. Packed with humor, adventure, and heart, the live-action adaptation introduced a new generation to the world of these iconic spotted heroes.
101 Dalmatians centers around Pongo and Perdita, two beautiful Dalmatian dogs who live happily with their owners, Roger (Jeff Daniels) and Anita (Joely Richardson), in London. Their lives take a dramatic turn when the evil, fashion-obsessed Cruella de Vil (portrayed by the legendary Glenn Close) hatches a wicked plan to kidnap their puppies. Cruella, with her obsession for fur, dreams of creating a one-of-a-kind spotted fur coat made from Dalmatian puppies.
When Pongo and Perdita’s 15 puppies are stolen, the two embark on a courageous adventure to rescue them. Along the way, they discover that their pups aren’t the only ones in dangerβCruella has kidnapped a total of 99 puppies! With the help of their animal friends, Pongo and Perdita must outwit Cruella and her bumbling henchmen, Jasper and Horace, to bring all the puppies back home.
