HANCOCK 2 (2024)

Hancock is a 2008 American superhero black comedy film directed by Peter Berg from a screenplay by Vince Gilligan and Vy Vincent Ngo. The film stars Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Jason Bateman.

The story was originally written by Vy Vincent Ngo in 1996. It languished in development hell for years with various directors attached, including Tony Scott, Michael Mann, Jonathan Mostow, and Gabriele Muccino, before being filmed in 2007 in Los Angeles with a production budget of $150 million.

In the United States, the film was rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America after changes were made at their request in order to avoid an R rating, which it had received twice before. The film was released on July 2, 2008, in the United States by Columbia Pictures.

Hancock received mixed reviews from critics who praised its performances, visual effects and premise, but criticized its execution and failure to deliver on its potential, especially during its second half. It grossed $629 million worldwide, becoming the fourth highest-grossing film of 2008.

Will Smith is set to reprise his role in the highly anticipated sequel, Hancock 2. The original film, released in 2008, left audiences captivated by Smith’s portrayal of the flawed but powerful superhero.
This time, the stakes are higher and the world of Hancock is expanding in unprecedented ways.
In Hancock 2, audiences will discover that Hancock is not as unique as he once believed. The storyline reveals the existence of thousands more superhumans scattered across the globe, each with their own set of powers and challenges.
This revelation turns Hancock’s world upside down, as he must navigate this new reality while confronting the complex dynamics of a superhuman society.
Will Smith, whose performance in the original Hancock was both humorous and poignant, expressed his excitement about returning to the role. “Hancock is one of my favorite characters,” Smith said in a recent interview.
“Exploring his story further and introducing a whole new world of superhumans is going to be an incredible journey. I’m thrilled to be back.”
