The Island (2005)

The Island (2005) is a sci-fi thriller set in a dystopian future where humans are cloned for organ harvesting and other purposes. The story follows Lincoln Six Echo (Ewan McGregor) and Jordan Two Delta (Scarlett Johansson), two residents of a highly controlled facility who, like others around them, believe they are survivors of a contaminated world.
They are told that their only chance of freedom is to win a lottery that sends them to “The Island,” a supposed paradise and the last uncontaminated place on Earth.
However, Lincoln begins to suspect something sinister and soon discovers the truth: they are clones created to provide organs, children, and other bodily needs for their wealthy, real-world counterparts.
“The Island” does not exist; it is a cover story to keep the clones obedient. Horrified, Lincoln and Jordan escape the facility, risking everything to uncover the truth about their existence and evade the authorities hunting them down.
As they experience the real world for the first time, the two must rely on each other to survive and confront the moral and ethical implications of their origins. The Island combines action, suspense, and thought-provoking themes around identity, humanity, and the ethics of cloning.
