Timeline (2003)
Timeline (2003) is a sci-fi adventure film directed by Richard Donner, based on the novel by Michael Crichton. The story follows a group of archaeologists and students who are studying the ruins of a medieval French village. While working at a dig site in France, they discover an ancient artifact and realize that it is a portal to the past, allowing them to travel back to the 14th century.
The group, led by professor Andre Marek (Gerard Butler), is thrust into the dangerous world of medieval Europe when they travel through the portal to rescue their professor, who has become stranded in the past while attempting to study the historical period.
Once in the past, the group finds themselves caught in the middle of the Hundred Years’ War, facing perilous situations and the violence of the time.
As they struggle to survive and navigate the brutal medieval world, they must find a way to return to their present time. The film explores themes of time travel, history, and the dangers of tampering with the past.
