Cobra (1986)
Cobra (1986) is an action-packed crime thriller directed by George P. Cosmatos and starring Sylvester Stallone as Lieutenant Marion “Cobra” Cobretti. In this film, Stallone plays a tough-as-nails cop who operates outside the system’s rules to take down criminals. His character is part of the “Zombie Squad,” a special task force designed to handle the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles.
The plot centers around Cobra’s efforts to protect a key witness, Ingrid (played by Brigitte Nielsen), from a ruthless gang of serial killers known as “The New World” led by the menacing Night Slasher (Brian Thompson). With its gritty tone, brutal violence, and iconic one-liners (“You’re the disease, and I’m the cure”), Cobra is a quintessential ’80s action movie, filled with high-octane car chases, shootouts, and Stallone’s trademark tough-guy persona.
Though it received mixed critical reviews upon release, the film became a cult favorite among action movie fans for its over-the-top style, Stallone’s performance, and its relentless pace.
