R.I.P.D. (2013) is a supernatural action-comedy film directed by Robert Schwentke, inspired by the comic book series of the same name by Peter M. Lenkov. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Nick Walker, a Boston police officer who is killed in the line of duty and subsequently recruited by the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.), an agency of deceased law enforcement officers tasked with protecting the living from malevolent spirits.
After his death, Nick discovers that he must work alongside a veteran R.I.P.D. officer, Roy Pulsipher, played by Jeff Bridges. Together, they must track down and apprehend rogue spirits that have escaped judgment and are wreaking havoc on Earth. However, things become complicated when Nick realizes that his own death may not have been a simple accident, leading him to investigate the circumstances surrounding it.
The film is characterized by its blend of humor, action, and visual effects, as the R.I.P.D. officers use various supernatural tools and powers to confront the otherworldly threats. The comedic chemistry between Reynolds and Bridges adds a lighthearted tone to the film, making it a fun ride despite its darker themes.
