Last Knights (2015)
Last Knights (2015), directed by Kazuaki Kiriya and written by Michael Konyves and Dove Sussman, is an action-packed, dramatic film that explores the timeless themes of honor, loyalty, and revenge. Inspired by the Japanese legend of the Forty-seven Ronin, the film takes these historical and cultural elements and places them in a medieval European fantasy setting. With a star-studded cast led by Clive Owen, Morgan Freeman, and Aksel Hennie, Last Knights is a visually stunning and emotionally gripping story that examines the cost of loyalty and the lengths to which one will go for honor.
Set in a kingdom ruled by a corrupt and ruthless emperor, Last Knights follows the story of Raiden (Clive Owen), a loyal warrior who serves his master, Lord Bartok (Morgan Freeman). When Lord Bartok is unjustly sentenced to death by the tyrannical Emperor Geza Mott (Aksel Hennie), Raiden and the other knights who served him are left in disarray. As Raiden is forced to witness his master’s execution, he is consumed with guilt, anger, and a thirst for revenge. However, under the Emperor’s rule, retaliation seems impossible, and the knights must bide their time, plotting their revenge in the shadows.
