American Ninja 3: Blood Hunt (1989)
American Ninja 3: Blood Hunt (1989) is the third installment in the American Ninja action franchise. Directed by Cedric Sundstrom, the film introduces a new protagonist, Sean Davidson (played by David Bradley), a martial artist trained in the ways of the ninja. Sean, along with his friends Curtis Jackson (Steve James) and Dexter (Evan J. Klisser), finds himself targeted by a sinister terrorist organization led by “The Cobra” (Marjoe Gortner). The villain’s plot involves a deadly biological weapon, and Sean must use his ninja skills to thwart the threat.
The film combines fast-paced martial arts action with espionage elements, showcasing intense fight scenes, acrobatics, and plenty of ninja weaponry. While it marks a departure from the earlier films’ lead actor (Michael Dudikoff), American Ninja 3 carries forward the franchise’s signature blend of adventure and action. Though considered a cult classic by fans of 1980s martial arts movies, it is best appreciated for its nostalgic value and over-the-top action sequences typical of the era.
