Season of the Witch (2011)

Season of the Witch (2011) is a dark fantasy action-adventure film directed by Dominic Sena, set in the medieval period during the Black Plague. The movie stars Nicolas Cage as Behmen, a disillusioned knight who, after years of fighting in the Crusades, returns to a Europe ravaged by the deadly plague. Alongside his fellow knight, Felson (Ron Perlman), Behmen seeks redemption for their past sins.
The Church believes that a young woman (played by Claire Foy), accused of being a witch and blamed for causing the plague, must be taken to a remote monastery to undergo a sacred ritual that will rid the land of the curse. Behmen and Felson are reluctantly tasked with transporting her, and as they journey through treacherous terrain, they encounter supernatural forces that challenge their faith, strength, and sanity.
Blending action with elements of horror and the supernatural, Season of the Witch explores themes of morality, faith, and the battle between good and evil in a world gripped by fear and death. The film’s eerie atmosphere, intense battle scenes, and Cage’s commanding performance offer an engaging medieval adventure.
