Defiance (2013–2015) is a science fiction TV series set in a future where Earth has been drastically changed by the arrival of several alien species. The show takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of St. Louis, Missouri, now known as Defiance, where humans and aliens must learn to coexist after a devastating war between the Earthlings and the extraterrestrial invaders.

The story focuses on the character of Joshua Nolan (played by Grant Bowler), a former military man who becomes the lawkeeper of Defiance. He works alongside his adopted alien daughter, Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas), a member of the Votan race, to maintain order in the town.
