Elon Musk unveils a Tesla car fueled by solar power.

As of April 2025, there is no official announcement from Elon Musk or Tesla regarding the unveiling of a solar-powered Tesla car. Tesla’s electric vehicles are primarily powered by lithium-ion batteries and do not incorporate solar panels for direct propulsion.
In a 2023 interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Elon Musk addressed the feasibility of a fully solar-powered vehicle. He explained that the limited surface area on a car restricts the effectiveness of solar panels in generating sufficient energy for propulsion. Musk noted that to harness adequate solar energy, the vehicle would need to deploy large, foldable solar panels, which is impractical for everyday use.
While Tesla has explored integrating solar technology into its products, such as the Solar Roof for homes and solar-powered charging stations, these innovations are designed to support the broader ecosystem of sustainable energy rather than directly powering vehicles.
