Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) is an action-adventure film directed by Simon West and based on the popular video game series Tomb Raider by Eidos Interactive. It stars Angelina Jolie as the titular character, Lara Croft, a wealthy British adventurer and skilled archaeologist.
The plot follows Lara as she embarks on a quest to retrieve ancient artifacts known as the two halves of the “Triangle of Light,” which have the power to control time.
The Illuminati, a secret society, is also seeking the artifacts to harness their power for nefarious purposes. Lara must race against time and the Illuminati to prevent the world from falling into chaos.
The film was a commercial success despite receiving mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, who praised Jolie’s portrayal of Lara Croft but criticized the plot and pacing.

Nevertheless, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider became a cult classic and solidified Jolie as an action star, leading to the sequel, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003).
