1. THE WOMAN KING
The Woman King is set in the kingdom of Dahomey in 1823. Nations and tribes are fighting each other to capture slaves and sell them to Europeans. King Ghezo is not going to play along, abandoning the slave trade and switching to palm oil. After rescuing a group of women from the Oyo Empire led by General Oba Ade (Jimmy Odukoya), female general Nanisca (Viola Davis) is tasked with training a new female army to prepare them for the inevitable war to come.
2. BLACK PANTHER 3
Marvel Studios has announced Black Panther 3, with Denzel Washington joining the cast. Director Ryan Coogler is crafting a role specifically for Washington, who expressed his enthusiasm during a recent interview.
3. MOSI: THE FIRST BLACK PANTHER (2025)
Long before Wakanda became the beacon of strength and power, there was one warrior who changed its destiny forever. Mosi: The First Black Panther takes us back to the origins of the legendary mantle, uncovering the rise of the very first protector of Wakanda.
4. CONAN
Directed by Marcus Nispel, the movie was based on the book series by Robert E. Howard. The story had previously been adapted for the screen in 1982 and 1984, with Arnold Schwarzenegger starring in Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer.
5. THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES
Having reclaimed Erebor and vast treasure from the dragon Smaug, Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) sacrifices friendship and honor in seeking the Arkenstone, despite Smaug’s fiery wrath and desperate attempts by the Hobbit Bilbo (Martin Freeman) to make him see reason. Meanwhile, Sauron sends legions of Orcs in a sneak attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As the fate of Middle Earth hangs in the balance, the races of Men, Elves and Dwarves must decide whether to unite and prevail—or all die.
6. The Scorpion King
The Scorpion King released in 2002, the action-adventure movie serves as both a prequel and spinoff of The Mummy Returns, taking place more than 5000 years before the 2001 sequel and revealing the origins of Johnson’s Mathayus and his rise to power as the titular Scorpion King. Although the movie received mixed reviews from critics, it was a modest box office success, grossing $180.6 million worldwide against a $60 million budget.
7. HERCULES
After “The Legend of Hercules” was released last month, Hollywood will welcome another cinematic version of this Greek mythological hero, which promises to be even more resonant thanks to the appearance of star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
