John Carter (2012)
John Carter (2012) is a science fiction adventure film directed by Andrew Stanton, based on the classic novel A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The film stars Taylor Kitsch as John Carter, a former Confederate soldier who is mysteriously transported to Barsoom—a dying planet better known as Mars.
On Mars, Carter discovers that he has enhanced strength and agility due to the planet’s lower gravity. He becomes involved in a conflict between warring Martian tribes and ultimately emerges as a reluctant hero who must save the planet from destruction.
Along the way, he meets Princess Dejah Thoris (played by Lynn Collins), who plays a key role in his journey.
Though it received mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office, John Carter has gained recognition for its ambitious visual effects, world-building, and its adaptation of a pioneering sci-fi story that inspired many later works in the genre.
