The Woman King is an epic historical action-drama inspired by true events. Set in the 1820s, it follows the fierce and legendary Agojie—an all-female warrior unit sworn to protect the African Kingdom of Dahomey. At the heart of this elite force is General Nanisca (Viola Davis), a seasoned leader who trains the next generation of warriors to defend their homeland from invading colonial forces and rival tribes.

As war looms and alliances shift, Nanisca faces not only enemies from abroad but ghosts from her past. Young recruit Nawi (Thuso Mbedu) must prove herself worthy of the Agojie, learning what it truly means to fight for honor, freedom, and sisterhood.
