The fossilized skin unearthed in Montana’s Hell Creek Formation has been attributed to Edmontosaurus, a duck-billed dinosaur that roamed North America roughly 73 to 66 million years ago.

This remarkable specimen showcases well-preserved scales arranged in a hexagonal pattern, offering valuable insight into the skin texture and external appearance of this ancient herbivore.

Edmontosaurus could reach lengths of up to 39 feet (12 meters) and weighed approximately 4.4 tons. Discoveries like this are crucial to paleontology, as they provide rare and detailed evidence of dinosaur anatomy and adaptations, deepening our understanding of their biology and life appearance.
