Bronze Statue of a Young Athlete

Dating to around 340–330 BC, this remarkable bronze sculpture is considered one of the masterpieces of the Late Classical period.

It is stylistically associated with the school of Praxiteles, known for its naturalistic and graceful representations of the human form.

The statue was discovered in the sea off Marathon, Attica, and is now housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, Greece. Its finely modeled anatomy and youthful expression exemplify the artistic ideals of the era.
