Alone

Alone (2020)

is an intense survival thriller that strips horror down to its core, pitting one woman against a relentless predator in the unforgiving wilderness.

Recently widowed and emotionally vulnerable, Jessica (Jules Willcox) embarks on a solo journey across the Pacific Northwest. But her journey takes a terrifying turn when she is stalked, kidnapped, and imprisoned by a cold-blooded stranger (Marc Menchaca). After a daring escape, Jessica finds herself alone in the vast forest, wounded and hunted, with only her instincts and resilience to keep her alive.

As the manhunt intensifies, the film devolves into a brutal game of cat and mouse, where every decision could mean life or death. With minimal dialogue and stark cinematography, Alone relies on raw tension, physical performance, and psychological terror to convey its impact.

Directed by John Hyams and written by Mattias Olsson, Alone is a remake of the 2011 Swedish film Försvunnen. It’s a concise, minimalist thriller that avoids genre clichés, offering a resourceful protagonist with a strong emotional foundation. With a chilling performance from Menchaca and a captivating final act, the film explores survival, trauma, and the terrifying reality of human evil.
