End of Days (1999)

End of Days (1999) is a supernatural action-horror film directed by Peter Hyams and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Set in the final days of the 20th century, the film blends elements of apocalyptic prophecy, religious horror, and intense action.
Schwarzenegger plays Jericho Cane, a disillusioned and alcoholic former New York police officer who now works as a private security guard. As the year 1999 nears its end, Jericho is thrust into a battle between good and evil when he uncovers a satanic plot to bring about the end of the world.
Satan, in human form (played by Gabriel Byrne), has come to Earth to find and impregnate a chosen woman, Christine York (Robin Tunney), during the final hour before the millennium, thus ushering in the Antichrist and the apocalypse.
Jericho, initially skeptical, becomes Christine’s protector as he grapples with his personal demons and confronts the terrifying possibility that the world could truly end. As Satan’s followers close in and time runs out, Jericho must rediscover his faith and muster his courage to stop Satan and save mankind.

End of Days is filled with action-packed sequences, intense chases, and explosive confrontations, while also exploring themes of faith, redemption, and the struggle between good and evil. Though it received mixed reviews for its narrative, the film was praised for Schwarzenegger’s performance and its dark, suspenseful atmosphere, offering a unique blend of supernatural horror and action in a millennial doomsday setting.
