Season of the Witch (2011)
Season of the Witch (2011) is a supernatural action-adventure film directed by Dominic Sena, starring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman. Set during the 14th century, the film follows two disillusioned knights, Behmen (Cage) and Felson (Perlman), who return home after years of fighting in the Crusades, only to find their land ravaged by the Black Plague.
The church believes that the outbreak is the result of witchcraft, and they task the knights with transporting a young woman (Claire Foy), who is accused of being a witch, to a remote monastery. The monks there will determine whether she is responsible for the deadly curse.
As Behmen and Felson lead a small group on this perilous journey, they encounter supernatural forces, and the knights begin to question the true nature of the young woman and the forces they are dealing with.
Blending medieval adventure with supernatural horror elements, Season of the Witch explores themes of faith, loyalty, and redemption.
Though the film received mixed reviews for its tone and pacing, it features exciting action sequences and a dark, moody atmosphere.
