Altered Carbon (2018)

Altered Carbon is a cyberpunk science fiction series set in a dystopian future where human consciousness can be transferred between bodies, effectively making immortality possible for those who can afford it. The series is based on Richard K. Morgan’s 2002 novel of the same name and was created by Laeta Kalogridis.
The story follows Takeshi Kovacs (played by Joel Kinnaman in Season 1), a former soldier turned mercenary who is revived after 250 years in a new body to solve the murder of Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy), one of the wealthiest men in the world.
As Kovacs delves into the case, he uncovers a web of intrigue, corruption, and conspiracy that challenges his perceptions of identity, morality, and power.
Altered Carbon is known for its visually stunning depiction of a futuristic world, complex characters, and thought-provoking themes surrounding life, death, and the nature of the soul.

The show blends elements of noir detective stories with high-concept science fiction, offering a dark, gripping narrative set against a backdrop of advanced technology and societal decay.
