The Ritual (2017)

The Ritual (2017) is a British horror film directed by David Bruckner, based on the 2011 novel by Adam Nevill. The story follows a group of four friends—Luke, Phil, Hutch, and Dom—who embark on a hiking trip in the remote forests of Sweden to honor their friend who tragically died in a robbery. As they venture deeper into the wilderness, they decide to take a shortcut through a dense forest, a decision that leads to terrifying consequences.
Soon, the group starts to experience strange and disturbing events, including eerie symbols carved into trees and unsettling nightmares.
