Rambo III (1988)
Rambo III (1988) is the third film in the Rambo franchise, directed by Peter MacDonald, and stars Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo. The movie continues the story of the former Green Beret and Vietnam War veteran, known for his exceptional combat skills and survival instincts.
The film is set during the Soviet-Afghan War, where John Rambo is living a peaceful life in a Buddhist monastery in Thailand. However, his quiet existence is interrupted when his former commander and friend, Colonel Sam Trautman (played by Richard Crenna), asks him to assist in a covert mission to aid the Afghan Mujahideen in their fight against the Soviet forces. Rambo declines the offer initially, not wanting to return to war.
However, when Trautman is captured by Soviet forces under the command of Colonel Zaysen (Marc de Jonge), Rambo feels obligated to take action. He embarks on a one-man rescue mission into Soviet-occupied Afghanistan, where he must use his guerrilla warfare tactics to infiltrate enemy lines and free his friend. Along the way, Rambo allies with Afghan freedom fighters, using his combat skills to take on overwhelming odds.
