Elysium (2013)

Elysium (2013) is a sci-fi action film directed by Neill Blomkamp, set in the year 2154. The movie takes place in a dystopian future where the wealthy elite live on a luxurious space station called Elysium, while the rest of humanity is left to suffer in poverty on a devastated Earth.
The Earth is overcrowded, polluted, and riddled with crime, while Elysium offers its residents a paradise with advanced technology, including medical machines that can cure any illness.
The story follows Max DeCosta (Matt Damon), a former car thief who lives on Earth and works in a factory.
After being exposed to a lethal dose of radiation, Max learns that he has little time to live. Desperate for a chance at survival, he embarks on a dangerous mission to reach Elysium and use their medical technology to save his life.
Max is forced to team up with a group of rebels and take on the station’s ruthless Defense Secretary, Delacourt (Jodie Foster), who will stop at nothing to prevent illegal immigrants from reaching Elysium. As Max’s mission unfolds, he becomes a symbol of resistance against the corrupt system that separates the privileged from the oppressed.
