Future World (2018)

Future World is a dystopian sci-fi film directed by James Franco and Bruce Thierry Cheung. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, the story unfolds in a world ravaged by environmental collapse, where society has fallen into chaos and lawlessness. The Earth is a desolate wasteland, with the few remaining survivors struggling to survive in a harsh and unforgiving environment.
The film follows a young man named Prince (Jeffrey Wahlberg), who embarks on a journey to find a cure for his sick mother. His quest leads him to a highly advanced but isolated and dangerous facility known as “Future World.” The facility is ruled by a powerful, robotic figure named the Queen (Lucy Liu), and it houses a variety of advanced technologies and weapons. However, it is also a place filled with moral ambiguity, where human life is expendable, and the line between humanity and artificial intelligence becomes increasingly blurred.
Throughout the film, Prince meets several characters, including a rebellious young woman (Suki Waterhouse) and various other survivors, all of whom have their own motives. As the plot unfolds, it becomes clear that Future World is not just a place of salvation but also a site where sinister experiments are conducted on humans and robots alike.
The film explores themes of power, survival, and the consequences of technology in a dystopian future. With a blend of action, drama, and philosophical musings, Future World offers a dark, cautionary tale about humanity’s potential downfall due to the unchecked advance of technology.
