The Gate (1987)
The Gate is a supernatural horror film that centers on two young boys, Glen (Stephen Dorff) and his best friend Terry (Louis Tripp), who accidentally unleash a demonic force while playing in Glen’s backyard.
The boys discover a mysterious hole in the ground that, unbeknownst to them, is a portal to a hellish dimension.
When they unknowingly perform a ritual that opens the gate, they release a swarm of terrifying creatures and demons that begin to terrorize their home. As the creatures grow more powerful, Glen and Terry must find a way to close the gate before the evil force spreads and destroys everything.
With the help of Glen’s older sister, Alexandra (Christa Denton), they attempt to use ancient knowledge to stop the demonic invasion. As the battle intensifies, the boys face horrific creatures, including a giant demon, while struggling to survive and protect their family.
The Gate is a mix of teen horror and supernatural thriller, filled with creepy visuals, practical effects, and an escalating sense of dread as the boys fight to undo the terror they’ve unleashed.
