Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) is a standalone film set in the Star Wars universe, taking place just before the events of A New Hope (1977). The story follows Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), a rebellious young woman who is recruited by the Rebel Alliance to steal the plans for the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star, a space station capable of destroying entire planets.
Jyn’s father, Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), was a key scientist forced to work on the Death Star, and he secretly embedded a fatal flaw in the weapon’s design. Jyn teams up with a diverse group of rebels, including Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a Rebel intelligence officer, and K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), a reprogrammed Imperial droid, to infiltrate the Empire’s stronghold and retrieve the plans.
As the team faces various obstacles and sacrifices, they manage to transmit the Death Star plans to the Rebel fleet, setting the stage for the events of A New Hope. Rogue One explores themes of sacrifice, resistance, and the power of hope, showcasing the bravery of unsung heroes in the fight against the Empire.
