A sixth film in the Ice Age series is currently being developed by Disney, as confirmed by John Leguizamo, the voice of Sid the Sloth. The most recent film in this $6 billion franchise, Ice Age: Collision Course, came out in 2016. Since then, there have been several original releases on Disney+, including the spin-off film The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild and the short series Ice Age: Scrat’s Tales.
The Ice Age franchise encompasses a variety of films, short films, TV specials, and a range of video games. The initial five films were created by Blue Sky Studios and released by its former parent company, 20th Century Fox, now known as 20th Century Studios. These films include Ice Age (2002), Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), and Ice Age: Collision Course (2016).
With a total revenue of $6 billion globally, it stands as one of the highest-grossing media franchises ever. In January 2022, a standalone spin-off film titled The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild was launched exclusively on Disney+, without the involvement of Blue Sky Studios.
The cast of Ice Age includes Ray Romano as Manny, Leguizamo as Sid, Denis Leary as Diego, Queen Latifah as Ellie, Seann William Scott and Josh Peck as Crash and Eddie, Chris Wedge as Scrat, Jessie J as Brooke, Jennifer Lopez as Shira, Wanda Sykes as Granny, Simon Pegg as Buck, and Frank Welker as Fuzzy.
