Kubo and the Two Strings 2 (2025): A New Legend Unfolds

The enchanting world of Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) returns in Kubo and the Two Strings 2 (2025), the highly anticipated sequel to Laika Studios’ stunning stop-motion animated film. Directed by Travis Knight, Kubo and the Two Strings 2 promises to continue the epic journey of Kubo (voiced by Art Parkinson), the young boy with magical abilities, and explore even more fantastical realms filled with danger, magic, and heart.

The first film captivated audiences with its breathtaking animation, rich mythology, and themes of family, memory, and self-discovery. Now, in Kubo and the Two Strings 2, Kubo’s story continues, taking him on a new quest to uncover more about his past, face even greater threats, and protect the world from an ancient evil that threatens to destroy the balance of magic.

After defeating the malevolent Moon King (voiced by Ralph Fiennes) and restoring peace to the land, Kubo has begun to embrace his legacy as the son of the legendary samurai Hanzo. However, his victory comes at a cost. Though the Moon King is gone, his influence lingers, and an even darker force has begun to stir from the shadows—one that seeks to take control of the magical world and rewrite the laws of reality itself.

Kubo’s journey begins when he discovers a mysterious new prophecy hidden in the ancient scrolls of his late father, pointing to a powerful and dangerous force known as The Void. As the boundary between worlds weakens, Kubo learns that he must embark on a new quest to gather three ancient, magical artifacts that hold the key to restoring balance and stopping this dark force from consuming all worlds.

But Kubo cannot do this alone. He is joined once again by his loyal companions: Monkey (voiced by Charlize Theron), his wise and protective guardian; Beetle (voiced by Matthew McConaughey), the bumbling yet courageous warrior with a hidden past; and new allies who will challenge Kubo’s perceptions of friendship, loyalty, and power.

As the group journeys deeper into forgotten lands, they will encounter mythical creatures, formidable adversaries, and places where magic and reality intertwine. Along the way, Kubo will discover more about his own heritage, his mother’s secrets, and the true nature of the cosmic forces that shape his world.
