Waterworld 2 (2025)

Set two decades after the events of the original, Waterworld 2 follows the Mariner (Kevin Costner) as he returns to the vast, dangerous seas. The story begins with Helen (Jeanne Tripplehorn) and Enola (Tina Majorino), who have made a life for themselves on Dryland. Their peaceful existence is disrupted when Enola discovers a hidden map within ancient relics that points to another potential Dryland beyond the horizon.
Driven by the need to secure a future for their people, Helen and Enola seek out the Mariner to embark on a daring journey. Though initially hesitant, the Mariner is eventually swayed by his deep connection to Enola and his curiosity about the world’s changing landscape. Along their journey, they face new threats, from fierce sea storms and mutated creatures to a revived faction of Smokers led by a ruthless and cunning leader (Javier Bardem).
As the trio ventures into uncharted waters, the Mariner confronts his troubled past, his sense of being an outsider, and his growing paternal connection to Enola. The shocking twist reveals that the legendary Dryland is not the untouched utopia they hoped for, but rather a toxic wasteland, ruined by humanity’s arrogance.

The film concludes on a poignant note, with the group returning home, more resolved than ever to protect their own Dryland, offering a glimmer of hope for a fragile future.
