The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016)

The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016) serves as both a prequel and sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman (2012). The film explores the origins of the Huntsman, Eric (Chris Hemsworth), and delves into the dark history of the Ice Queen Freya (Emily Blunt).

Long before the events of Snow White and the Huntsman, Freya, the sister of the evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron), is betrayed by her lover, leading her to unlock powerful ice magic. Devastated and vowing to never love again, she builds a frozen kingdom in the North and raises an army of Huntsmen, training them to become ruthless warriors who must never fall in love.

However, two of her best warriors, Eric and Sara (Jessica Chastain), break this rule and secretly fall for each other. When Freya discovers their love, she separates them, making Eric believe Sara is dead.
Years later, after Ravenna’s defeat, Eric is tasked with finding the lost Magic Mirror before it falls into the wrong hands. Along the way, he reunites with Sara, who is very much alive but bitter over what she perceives as Eric’s betrayal. As they journey together, they must face Freya’s forces and uncover a shocking truth about the Mirror’s power.

In the climactic battle, Freya and Ravenna are reunited, revealing the true depths of Ravenna’s cruelty. The Huntsmen, along with Eric and Sara, rise against the two queens, leading to a dramatic confrontation that determines the fate of the kingdom.
The film blends fantasy, adventure, and romance, offering stunning visuals, epic battles, and a deeper look into the lore of the Snow White universe.
