Defiance (2013–2015)
Defiance is a science fiction TV series that aired on Syfy from 2013 to 2015. Created by Rockne S. O’Bannon, Kevin Murphy, and Michael Taylor, the show is set in a post-apocalyptic future where Earth has been transformed by the arrival of several alien races.
Plot Summary:
The series takes place in the year 2046, over thirty years after the arrival of seven alien races collectively known as the Votans, who sought refuge on Earth after their home star system was destroyed. Following a devastating war between the Votans and humans, Earth is left in ruins and drastically altered by alien terraforming technology.
The story is centered around the frontier town of Defiance, built on the ruins of St. Louis, Missouri. The town is a melting pot where humans and aliens attempt to coexist amid lingering tensions and threats.
The main character, Joshua Nolan (played by Grant Bowler), a former soldier, becomes the town’s lawkeeper, aided by his adopted Irathient alien daughter, Irisa Nyira (Stephanie Leonidas).
