This aerial view captures one of the many mysterious desert kites found across the Harrat Khaybar lava fields in northwestern Saudi Arabia  , dating back an astonishing 7,000 to 9,000 years to the Neolithic period.

These vast stone structures, stretching hundreds of meters, form long, funnel-shaped patterns that converge into enclosures or pits—likely used for hunting and trapping wild animals such as gazelles.

Visible only from above, desert kites are considered among the oldest known large-scale constructions in human history. Their scale and strategic design suggest a high level of coordination and social organization among early pastoralist communities.
