Royal Pet Burials in the Valley of the Kings

A 𝘮𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘦𝘥 dog and baboon were discovered buried together in tomb KV50 in the Valley of the Kings. Alongside neighboring tombs KV51 and KV52, this site appears to have served as a burial ground for royal pets.

The burials likely date to the reign of Amenhotep II (1427–1401 BC), reflecting the significance of animals in the royal household. These unique finds are now on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, offering insight into the bonds between pharaohs and their animal companions.
