The Haunted Mansion (2003)

The Haunted Mansion (2003) is a family-friendly supernatural comedy film directed by Rob Minkoff, inspired by the popular Disneyland theme park attraction of the same name. The film stars Eddie Murphy as Jim Evers, a successful real estate agent who, along with his wife Sara (Marsha Thomason) and their children, visits a grand, eerie mansion to discuss the sale of the property.
Upon arriving at the mansion, the Evers family discovers that the estate is haunted by numerous ghosts and spirits. The spirits, led by the tragic ghost of the mansion’s former owner, Edward Gracey (Nathaniel Parker), are trapped in the mansion due to a curse that prevents them from moving on to the afterlife.
Jim must navigate the spooky and humorous challenges of the haunted mansion to free the ghosts and solve the mystery of the curse.
The Haunted Mansion combines elements of comedy, fantasy, and mild scares, with Eddie Murphy’s trademark humor providing a lighthearted touch. The film is noted for its imaginative set design and special effects, which bring the haunted mansion and its ghostly inhabitants to life.

While it received mixed reviews from critics, it is enjoyed for its fun, family-oriented approach and its faithful adaptation of the beloved Disney theme park attraction.
