Masters of the Universe (1987) is a live-action fantasy film directed by Gary Goddard, based on the popular Mattel toy line and animated series of the same name. The film features iconic characters from the He-Man franchise and is set in both the mystical land of Eternia and Earth.
The film follows He-Man (played by Dolph Lundgren), the powerful warrior prince of Eternia, who battles the evil Skeletor (played by Frank Langella) in a quest to save his home and the universe. Skeletor has seized control of Castle Grayskull, which holds the secrets of the universe and is the source of power for He-Man and his allies.
In a bid to regain his power, Skeletor uses a device known as the Cosmic Key, which opens a portal between Eternia and Earth. During the battle, He-Man and his friends—Teela (played by Chelsea Field), Man-at-Arms (played by Jon Cypher), and Gwildor (played by Billy Barty)—are transported to Earth, where they must regroup and retrieve the Cosmic Key to return to Eternia and defeat Skeletor.
On Earth, they encounter a couple of teenagers, Julie (played by Courteney Cox) and Kevin (played by Robert Duncan McNeill), who help them navigate the challenges of the human world while evading Skeletor’s henchmen, including the menacing Beast Man (played by Tony Carroll) and the evil sorceress Evil-Lyn (played by Meg Foster).
