Ghosts of Mars (2001)

Ghosts of Mars is a science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter, set in the year 2176 on a partially terraformed Mars. The story follows a group of law enforcement officers, led by Lieutenant Melanie Ballard (Natasha Henstridge), who are sent to a remote mining outpost to transport a dangerous prisoner, James “Desolation” Williams (Ice Cube), back to the main colony.
However, when they arrive, they find the outpost mysteriously abandoned, and soon discover that the miners have been possessed by vengeful Martian spirits awakened from an ancient burial site. These spirits take control of the miners’ bodies, turning them into violent and bloodthirsty killers. As the team fights for survival, they are forced to team up with Desolation Williams and his gang to escape the deadly threat and prevent the spirits from spreading further across Mars.
Ghosts of Mars combines Carpenter’s signature blend of horror, action, and dark humor, featuring atmospheric settings, intense shootouts, and a pulsing rock score.
The film explores themes of survival, teamwork, and the battle between humans and an ancient, unstoppable force.

Although it received mixed reviews, it has since gained a cult following for its unique mix of sci-fi horror and action elements.
