Derawar Fort, Pakistan – A 9th-Century Human Marvel
Rising from the heart of the Cholistan Desert in Punjab, Pakistan, Derawar Fort stands as a magnificent testament to human engineering and resilience. Originally built in the 9th century by the Hindu Rajput Bhati rulers, this imposing structure was later taken over and rebuilt in its current form by the Nawabs of Bahawalpur in the 18th century.
The fort’s massive square structure, with its 40 towering bastions and 30-meter-high walls, can be seen for miles around.
Made from baked bricks and blending seamlessly with the desert landscape, Derawar Fort not only served as a military stronghold but also symbolized power, protection, and architectural excellence.
